I’m Taking on the September Reading Challenge for Teenage Cancer Trust šŸ“ššŸ’œ

September is officially here, which means my September Reading Challenge starts TODAY! šŸ“š

This month I’m taking part in the Teenage Cancer Trust September Reading Challenge, raising money to support young people with cancer.

And because apparently simply taking part wasn’t enough for me šŸ˜‚, I’ve decided to set myself an extra personal challenge too…

šŸ“– My September Reading Goal

For the whole of September, I’m challenging myself to read:

At least 50 pages every single day.

No saving pages up. No reading 100 one day so I can conveniently forget about reading the next. šŸ˜‚

I want to actually sit down and read every day for all 30 days of September.

If I manage it, by the end of the month I’ll have read a minimum of:

1,500 pages! šŸ˜±šŸ“š

And hopefully quite a few books along the way.

Why 50 Pages a Day?

One of the biggest reasons I wanted to give myself a daily page goal is consistency.

I absolutely love reading — I mean, I wouldn't have a book blog otherwise šŸ˜‚ — but when life gets busy, reading is surprisingly easy to push aside.

You tell yourself you'll read later…

Then later becomes tomorrow.

Then suddenly you've spent far too long scrolling on your phone and your poor book is still sitting exactly where you left it. šŸ™ˆ

So rather than putting pressure on myself to read a certain number of books this month, I'm focusing on something much simpler:

Just pick up my book and read 50 pages.

Some days I might stop at 50.

Other days I'll probably get completely carried away and read considerably more.

Either way, if I've opened a book and spent some time reading that day, I'm counting that as a win.

šŸ’œ Raising Money for Teenage Cancer Trust

Of course, this challenge is about much more than getting through my TBR.

I'm also fundraising for Teenage Cancer Trust, and I've set myself a target of:

£150 šŸ’œ

My fundraising page is now up and running, and I'm hoping that over the course of September I can reach — or maybe even beat — that target.

Any donation, no matter how small, would mean so much.

And if donating isn't possible, simply sharing my fundraising page can make a huge difference too.

I've also got a QR code that takes you straight to my Teenage Cancer Trust fundraising page.

šŸ“š Follow My Progress

Naturally, I'm going to be sharing the whole thing here and across Jos Booktastic Books throughout September.

I'll be keeping track of how many pages I've read, what I'm currently reading, which books I finish and — probably — those inevitable evenings where I suddenly realise:

“Oh crap, I still need to read my 50 pages.” šŸ˜‚

But that's part of the challenge.

By September 30th, I'd love to be able to say that I managed all 30 days without missing one.

And if I can raise £150 for Teenage Cancer Trust while doing something I already love?

Even better. šŸ’œ

So here we go…

Day 1 of 30. šŸ“š

Can I really read at least 50 pages every single day for the whole of September?

We'll find out!

Let the September Reading Challenge begin. šŸ’œšŸ“–

Books, magic & a little bit of chaos.
