Teaser Tuesday! (10th June 2014)

Hi Book Lovers and Welcome to Teaser Tuesdays for the 10th June 2014!

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Should Be Reading. Which asks you to do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS!
• Share the title & author

On to my teaser ......

My teaser sentences are from Thief's Magic by Trudi Canavan, which I am still currently reading. The teaser's can be found 41% into the book.

Synopsis - In a world where an industrial revolution is powered by magic, Tyen, a student of archaeology, unearths a sentient book called Vella. Once a young sorcerer-bookbinder, Vella was transformed into a useful tool by one of the greatest sorcerers of history. Since then she has been collecting information, including a vital clue to the disaster Tyen's world faces.
Elsewhere, in an land ruled by the priests, Rielle the dyer's daughter has been taught that to use magic is to steal from the Angels. Yet she knows she has a talent for it, and that there is a corrupter in the city willing to teach her how to use it - should she dare to risk the Angels' wrath.
But not everything is as Tyen and Rielle have been raised to believe. Not the nature of magic, nor the laws of their lands . . . Not even the people they trust.

Here are my teasers.......

I don't have to do anything but find information that might help the priests.

What if this is a trap set by the priests to see who might succumb to the temptation?

Musing Monday! (9th June 2014)

Hi Book Lovers and Welcome to Musing Monday for the 9th June 2014!

Sorry its a day late, been really busy again! Think I need to write posts in advance and schedule them to upload!

Musing Mondays is a weekly meme hosted by Should Be Reading ,which asks you to muse about one of the following each week…
• Describe one of your reading habits.
• Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s).
• What book are you currently desperate to get your hands on? Tell us about it!
• Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren’t) enjoying it.
• Do you have a bookish rant? Something about books or reading (or the industry) that gets your ire up? Share it with us!
• Instead of the above questions, maybe you just want to ramble on about something else pertaining to books.

So on to my musing.....
This week I have chosen to muse about my preference to hardback or paperback:

Everyone has their own preferences, even when it comes to books, people like different genres, authors, physical or e-copy and of course hardback or paperback.  Myself I prefer paperback because the dust jackets you get on hardbacks really annoy me, I find it difficult to read with them on, so take them off and they end up getting ripped or lost, and without the dust jacket the naked hardbacks don't look as pretty. Also paperbacks are usually cheaper than hardbacks which is a bonus.

TBR Jar!

Hi Book Lovers!

I have seen a lot of people making TBR Jars, to help them pick which book to read next, I don't necessarily have a problem with not being able to decide what to read next, my problem is instead of picking something off my shelf or off my kindle I end up buying something new, which leads to a humongous TBR pile.

So I decided to make myself a TBR Jar, I have written every book I own on small pieces of paper and folded them up and put them in the jar. I will pick a book out of here whenever I have finished reading a book and haven't got one off my shelf that I really want to read, or a review copy that needs to be read. Hopefully this will get my list of unread books to decrease in size.

Social Media!!

Hi Book Lovers!

Today I wanted to do a small post on Social Media! As you all know, social media is a central point of today's society, so I decided to post all my links to various social media's here:

Book Blogger Hop! (6th June - 12th June 2014)

Hi Book Lovers and Welcome to Book Blogger Hop for 6th June - 12th June 2014!

Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Ramblings Of A Coffee Addicted Writer. Every week there is a different question and the objective of this meme is to answer this question.

This weeks question is ....

When you view someone's profile, what information do you like to see?

My answer is ....

The information I like to see when viewing someone's profile is their location, age and interests. Location- so I know where the books they have reviewed are available. Age- because I'm just nosey and like to know these things. Interests - I like to know what other interests people have, incase we have more things in common.

Friday 56! (6th June 2014)

Hi Book Lovers and Welcome to The Friday 56 for the 6th June 2014!

The Friday 56 is a weekly meme which is hosted by Freda's Voice. The objectives of this meme are :

  • Grab a book, any book.
  • Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
  • Find any sentence, (or few, just don't spoil it) that grab you.
  • Post it.

So here is my post......

I have chosen this snippet from The Dark Heroine by Abigail Gibbs.

I didn't know where my legs were taking me. I lost myself in the maze of corridors, my awe increasing with every turn. It wasn't a welcoming place - there were few windows and most of the light came from gas lamps fashioned to look like torches or the occasional spotlight, which would highlight an alcove containing an expensive-looking painting or vase - but it was certainly grand. There was wood panelling everywhere and the floor was so clean I could see an outline of my reflection on the polish. It was cold too and if I lingered for too long on one spot, it felt as though I was standing on a pile of snow in only my socks. The few windows I did come across I fiddled with, trying to open them, but every single one was locked or too stiff to lift; the one I did manage to open was several floors up and positioned on a completely smooth wall, high enough to rule out jumping.
