I didn't know where my legs were taking me. I lost myself in the maze of corridors, my awe increasing with every turn. It wasn't a welcoming place - there were few windows and most of the light came from gas lamps fashioned to look like torches or the occasional spotlight, which would highlight an alcove containing an expensive-looking painting or vase - but it was certainly grand. There was wood panelling everywhere and the floor was so clean I could see an outline of my reflection on the polish. It was cold too and if I lingered for too long on one spot, it felt as though I was standing on a pile of snow in only my socks. The few windows I did come across I fiddled with, trying to open them, but every single one was locked or too stiff to lift; the one I did manage to open was several floors up and positioned on a completely smooth wall, high enough to rule out jumping.

    • Describe one of your reading habits.
    • Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s).
    • What book are you currently desperate to get your hands on? Tell us about it!
    • Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren’t) enjoying it.
    • Do you have a bookish rant? Something about books or reading (or the industry) that gets your ire up? Share it with us!
    • Instead of the above questions, maybe you just want to ramble on about something else pertaining to books.

    So on to my musing.....
This week I have chosen to muse about my reading habits:

My Reading Habits consist of reading really early in the morning as soon as I wake up and really late at night before I go to bed, having two children, one who is not yet in school, I rarely have much time to read during the day.

    ***** 5 out of 5 stars

I Was A Teenage Ghost Hunter, is a standalone novel. It is about sixteen year old Devin Mulwray, who see things that no-one else sees. Devin and his friends are invited to a party, while there two of the other guests come from a nearby empty house screaming, saying that there were eerie bangs coming from upstairs. Devin's friend Clive decides that he needs to go to the abandoned house and record these bangs for the piece music he is creating. While there Clive rings Devin panicking, so Devin goes to find his friend and has has first encounter with the resident ghost. Devin an his two best friends then go on nightly vigils at the manor, where Devin encounters Rousten's ghost, and is also attacked by books and other objects. After having a couple of encounters with an apparition of a white lady at the hotel where he works, Devin finally finds a lead to finding out why Rousten is so angry and attacking the town with haunted clothes. He goes to the Rousten manor alone, with the intent to find the letter that the white lady mentioned. After finding a bundle of letters, Devin hears shouting coming from a room down the hall, he realises almost at once that it is not Rousten's voice. He goes to investigate, and finds another man being attacked by Rousten's ghost, Linus (the other man) informs Devin that he is the rightful Rousten heir and is searching the manor for the evidence to prove it. Linus discovers that Devin has the bundle of letters, he reads them sure that they contain something to prove he is Rousten's grandson, but instead the letters content prove he is not related to Rousten. Devin realises this before Linus does, and tries to negotiate with Rousten who has destroyed part of the manor trying to kill them, and is now seconds away from actually killing Linus. Devin manges to make a deal with Rousten that if the manor is left alone he will be reside there peacefully and stop terrorising the town.

I though this book was exceptional. I really liked the description of the manor, it was so realistic, that I could picture it perfectly. I like that each one of the characters, even the small insignificant ones have their own personality and it is depicted beautifully. I also liked that this book is different to anything I have read before, because most ghost hunting books concentrate on the scare factor whereas this concentrates on the investigation and solving the mystery.

My favourite part of this book is when Devin negotiates with Rousten's ghost. I like this part because Devin finally realises that his gift can be useful and be used as a benefit to the whole town. My favourite Character is Devin Mulwray because he really wants to be normal and doesn't want to admit to the fact that he has a gift, but eventually comes to terms with it.

Overall, I thought that this book was excellent. I will certainly be checking out other books by this author. I would definitely recommend this book to other people.
