'As to how I became a vampire, that's too long a story for now,' he said. 'But yes, when I was younger - a few times - I killed by accident. I was never sure when I'd get to eat again, you understand? We were always hunted, naturally and there was no such thing as artifical blood. And there were not as many people then. But I had been a good man when I was alive - I mean, before I caught the virus. So I tried to be civilised about it, select bad people as my victims, never feed on children. I managed never to kill a child, at least. It's so different now. I can go to the all-night clinic in any city and get some synthetic blood, though its disgusting. Or I can pay a whore and get enough blood to keep going for a couple of days. Or I can glamour someone, so they'll let me bite them for love and then forget all about it. And I don't need so much now.'

    • Share two “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

    • Share the title & author

    On to my teaser ......

My teaser sentences are from Thief's Magic by Trudi Canavan, which I am still currently reading. The teaser's can be found 79% into the book.

Synopsis - In a world where an industrial revolution is powered by magic, Tyen, a student of archaeology, unearths a sentient book called Vella. Once a young sorcerer-bookbinder, Vella was transformed into a useful tool by one of the greatest sorcerers of history. Since then she has been collecting information, including a vital clue to the disaster Tyen's world faces.
Elsewhere, in an land ruled by the priests, Rielle the dyer's daughter has been taught that to use magic is to steal from the Angels. Yet she knows she has a talent for it, and that there is a corrupter in the city willing to teach her how to use it - should she dare to risk the Angels' wrath.
But not everything is as Tyen and Rielle have been raised to believe. Not the nature of magic, nor the laws of their lands . . . Not even the people they trust.

    Here are my teasers.......

People tripped over themselves in their haste to get away.

She flinched from it, too late to have avoided it if the thrower's aim had been better.

    Musing Monday! (23rd June 2014)

Hi Book Lovers and Welcome to Musing Monday for the 23rd June 2014!

Musing Mondays is a weekly meme hosted by Should Be Reading ,which asks you to muse about one of the following each week…
    • Describe one of your reading habits.
    • Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s).
    • What book are you currently desperate to get your hands on? Tell us about it!
    • Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren’t) enjoying it.
    • Do you have a bookish rant? Something about books or reading (or the industry) that gets your ire up? Share it with us!
    • Instead of the above questions, maybe you just want to ramble on about something else pertaining to books.

    So on to my musing.....
This week I have chosen to muse about Reading Slumps:

Recently I have found myself in a reading slump, I haven't really been very motivated to read and have been spending more time watching TV and playing computer games. I never believed people when they said they were in a reading slump, I always thought they were just being lazy, but now I realise it is a thing. I am not being lazy as I have taken my dog on long walks, and blitzed the house, I just don't feel like reading. And even when I do pick my book up after a couple of pages I want to put it down, but its not the story, I am enjoying it, I just don't want to read it at the moment. But rest assured I will keep on trying and hopefully, get of this slump eventually.

    Book Blogger Hop! (20th June - 26th June 2014)

Hi Book Lovers and Welcome to Book Blogger Hop for 20th June - 26th June 2014!

Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Ramblings Of A Coffee Addicted Writer. Every week there is a different question and the objective of this meme is to answer this question.

    This weeks question is ....

Do you prefer Nook, Kindle, other reader or paper book?

    My answer is ....

I prefer paper book, there is nothing better than being able to flick through the pages Although I do like the convenience of having a kindle, you can take lots of books anywhere with you without taking up a load of space. And also if there is a must have book that is just released you can purchased it on kindle immediately and not have to trawl around bookshops trying to find it.

Mister was nowhere to be seen when I got home, but I left the food in his dish anyway. He would eventually forgive me for getting home late. I collected the things I would need from my kitchen - fresh baked bread wit no preservatives, honey, milk, a fresh apple, a sharp silver penknife, and a tiny dinner set of plate, bowl and cup that I had carved myself from a block of teakwood.

There is tons of bookmarks on the market, leather, card, plastic, and even metal. My favorite would have to metal because one of my other hobbies is making jewellery, so I actually make my own metal bookmarks.

This is my favourite one that I have made for myself, which is personalised with my name.

The late afternoon sun filtered into the top floor of the three-story brick building on Temple Street that housed the Maine Temperance Union's headquarters. Simon Gould, in his late forties but still powerfully built and with a soldier's bearing, lifted a coffeepot from its silver platter. He caught sight of his own marred face, the burned tissue reflecting clearly in the vessel's gleaming surface.

Her senses stirred. Stain did still linger, but it was shrunken and patchy. Another woman was striding across the space but she was only around ten years older than Rielle and didn't look up as she passed. A few steps from the other side of the convergence of streets, Rielle glanced back as if to look twice at a woman, letting her eyes move across the entrances of the other streets. Nobody stood there. She breathed a sigh of relief and turned back........... to find her path blocked by a familiar wizened creature.
